This is caused by resolution compatibility issue.
The default output resolution of the DVR is 1280*1024, which may not be compatible with some screens.
Here is how to solve it:
1. Connect the DVR to any other screen via VGA,or you may also try any other screen（computer LCD monitor is the best) via HDMI to see if you can enter the menu)
2. When you are able to see the menu, click right button on mouse, go to DVR's Main Menu - Setup - Basic -Video Output to lower the resolution of your DVR.
3. Connect it back your primary screen via HDMI. You should have it worked with the screen.
If it cannot work, please try to upgrade:

For example, you need to upgrade the DVR model 08HA.
The below is the detail steps to upgrade the DVR:
(1). You needn't open the upgrade file, please directly download and unzip the upgrade file
to your U-disk from the below link (08HA, V1.1.5):
(Please save the upgrade file in the root directory, not save it under 08HA folder or other folders.)
(2). The file's name should be the original one, can not be have any changes,
if the file's name change to others, the upgrade will be failed.
(3). Before starting to upgrade, please remove the mouse and unplug the power supply,
then plug the U-disk into the DVR's USB port, and plug the power supply.
(4). It can upgrade automatically as long as it has electricity, the upgrade process need to last several minutes, please be patient.
Please Note:It is better to use a 16 gb or smaller flash drive with a Fat32 format. And different model of DVR has different upgrade file, you can contact us via email : email@example.com , and tell us the model of your DVR, we will send you the correspond upgrade file to you to solve this problem.
